About the HSBC Home Value Loan
HSBC Australia is a subsidiary of HSBC Holdings, one of the world's largest banks. Their Home Value Loan is a no-frills variable rate product with no annual fee and no offset account. It offers one of the most comprehensive publicly-published LVR rate schedules of any Australian bank — with 4 distinct pricing tiers covering all LVR scenarios from below 60% to above 80%.
For borrowers with at least 40% equity (≤60% LVR), the 5.99% rate is competitive among major banks. For investors, HSBC also publishes a full investment P&I schedule, making rate comparison straightforward.
HSBC Investment Home Loan Rates
HSBC is one of the few lenders to publish a full investment home loan rate schedule rather than quoting "on application". Investment P&I rates start at 6.19% p.a. (comparison rate 6.20%) for loans at ≤60% LVR, then step up to 6.24% (60–70%), 6.29% (70–80%) and 6.59%above 80% LVR — the full breakdown is in the table below.
With no annual fee and the same no-frills structure as the owner-occupier loan, the HSBC investment loan is worth comparing if you hold solid equity in the investment property. Interest-only is available on request. As an investor you can also weigh it against the other lenders in our home-loan comparison.
For property investors, the repayment type can matter as much as the headline rate. Interest-only keeps monthly outgoings lower and is often used to preserve cash flow and maximise deductible interest, while principal & interest builds equity and usually prices lower. HSBC offers interest-only on request, and the P&I rates above are the published starting point for each LVR band.
Like most lenders, HSBC reserves its sharpest investment pricing for borrowers with substantial equity — the lowest tier applies at ≤60% LVR, so an investor with roughly a 40% deposit (or equivalent equity in an existing property) earns the best rate. The bigger advantage is transparency: because HSBC publishes its full investment schedule rather than quoting "on application", you can compare its investment home loan directly against rivals before you enquire — something surprisingly few banks allow.
