Current Offer
The ANZ Frequent Flyer Black earns Qantas Points directly, with no conversion step. The current offer is a points bonus in two parts: one for meeting the minimum spend in your first 3 months, and a second for keeping the card past its first year. There is no cashback or fee discount attached, so the full annual fee applies from day one.

Is the $425 Annual Fee Worth It?
You pay the full $425 in year one. If you value Qantas Points at 1.5c to 2c each (a cautious figure for domestic economy flights), the 50,000 first-year points are worth roughly $750 to $1,000, which covers the fee if you hit the spend target and actually redeem the points.
In year 2 you pay the fee again and receive 50,000 points for keeping the card, worth about $750 to $1,000 at the same valuation. After that the bonus is gone, so renewing only makes sense if your everyday points earn, lounge passes and insurance are worth more to you than the fee.
How It Compares
The Westpac Altitude Qantas Black offers a larger two-year bonus, but you have to meet a spend target again in year 2, and its Qantas program fee sits on top of the card fee. That makes it $355 in year one and $450 after, against ANZ's flat $425. ANZ's second bonus needs no extra spend, which suits people who won't keep up a high spend after the first few months.
